01 / About
The firm

From concept planning through to completion, DNMZ delivers top quality engineering with a highly skilled professional team.

DNMZ International is an international civil and structural engineering firm delivering design and construction monitoring through technologically superior processes, comprehensive subcontracting protocols and enhanced design and construction methodologies.

Our scope spans design and construction monitoring services to local and provincial government, renewal projects, structural and civil works, roads and storm water infrastructure and bulk services, water and sewage.

Vision

Build a consultancy firm that will deliver good quality engineering services and that will grow to compete with large engineering companies in South Africa.

Mission

Provide clients with top quality professional engineering services for construction and related activities, both public and private, recognised for design and implementation excellence, committed to sustainable development and adding value through innovation and cost effective service delivery.

Structure is a discipline, not a guess

Harare, Zimbabwe, commissioned 30 May 2025

The Mbudzi
Interchange

A grade separated interchange replacing an at grade roundabout, the busiest junction in Harare. Built piece by piece. Scroll to follow the structure rise, from the bulk services beneath the ground to the day it opened.

Step 01 / The brief

From roundabout
to interchange

Where an at grade roundabout once choked the city, a full grade separated interchange now carries traffic on multiple levels. This is the spine of the project, the geometry that everything else serves.

~24 km
Roadworks
2
Underpasses
Step 02 / Loops and ramps

The ramp
geometry

Loop and ramp systems thread traffic between levels at speed. Fresh primer is laid over a new base course, MSE retaining walls holding the embankment as the curve sweeps toward the deck.

Main bridges
MSE
Retaining walls
Step 03 / Below the road

Stormwater
and drainage

Before the surface comes the system beneath it. Large diameter pipe is bedded in deep trenches, the drainage network that keeps the interchange working through every wet season.

Step 04 / Bulk services

Relocating
the lifelines

A working city cannot pause. Crews relocate the bulk water main and lay reinforced concrete pipe through the footprint, sequencing every connection so supply holds while the interchange takes shape above.

Step 05 / Commissioned

A junction
a region depends on

Commissioned 30 May 2025. Five main bridges, two underpasses, six culverts, loops and ramps, roughly 24 km of roadworks, over 15 km of stormwater, 6 km of bulk water main relocation, MSE retaining walls and full electrical installations. A grade separated interchange built for the next generation of the city.
